Where: Originally from Bloomington, Peoria resident for the last 6 years
Why One World:
My first One World experience was during my orientation session at Bradley University – way back in 2009. I was practically a baby then and the idea of working at this cool, eclectic restaurant seemed super out of reach. Fast forward 2 years and I guess I was just at the right place at the right time! I’ve now been working at One World for 3 ½ years – not too shabby for my first restaurant job!
I’m actually a full-time communications/public relations/studio art student at Bradley, so One World just kind of makes sense. It’s pretty much all my favorite things under one roof. Not only do I get the experience of networking and meeting new people, I also get to build and nurture professional and personal relationships. On top of all that, I’m surrounded by cool art and good food? Yes, please. Sign me up!
One World has provided me with a lot of great opportunities during my time here. Obviously, working full time and going to school full time are difficult to balance, but I’ve had nothing but support throughout the whole process. I’ve actually got art going up in One World this month (May) – the very first public showing/sale of my work! I’m really excited and grateful! Come out and take a look if you get the chance!
Most of my art is created through wood burning and paint applied to found materials. I find a lot of joy in making this type of art and have really enjoyed all the positive feedback I’ve gotten so far!
